Lenten Season
Lent is a sacred season in the Christian calendar, marking a time of reflection, repentance, and spiritual renewal. It begins on Ash Wednesday and lasts for 40 days (excluding Sundays), leading up to Easter Sunday. This period symbolizes the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness, enduring temptation while preparing for His ministry (Matthew 4:1-11).
Lent invites believers to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, fasting, and acts of service. Many Christians choose to give up something meaningful such as certain foods, habits, or distractions as a way to refocus their hearts on Christ. Others take on new spiritual disciplines, like reading Scripture, engaging in daily prayer, or serving those in need.
At its core, Lent is a journey of self-examination and transformation. It calls us to acknowledge our sinfulness, seek God’s mercy, and prepare our hearts for the joy of Christ’s resurrection on Easter. It is not merely about external sacrifices but about drawing closer to God, embracing His grace, and living in the hope of the Gospel.
As we walk through this season, we are reminded that through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are offered new life. Lent ultimately points us toward the cross and the empty tomb, inviting us to experience the depth of God’s love and the victory of Christ over sin and death.
